A well structured campaign of graphic
advertising on the Internet can be a highly effective way
to attract customers to you and your business. The problem
has always been where to advertise.
We are bringing a solution for that to you
right here on HVInsider. We have established the Hudson Valley
Ad Server providing you a single central control panel to
enable three forms of graphic ads on Hudson Valley Voyager
and other web sites that are and will be accessing the Ad
Server throughout the Hudson Valley.
Types of Graphic Ads:
| Banner
Ads |
"Banner Ads" are probably
the most commonly seen graphic ads on the Internet.
They have high visual impact, are seen immediately when
the web page is loaded and can be either static or animated.
By definition, all Banner Ads are placed
"above the fold" of the web page, no scrolling
is necessary for them to be viewed. Standard size for
a Banner Ad is 648x40 pixels, but smaller is acceptable.
Care should be taken when creating the ad to insure
they are the smallest byte size possible to insure quick
loading across the net.
On a well designed and targeted Banner
Ad the average click per view ration is roughly 4 in
100. Targeted placements can dramatically raise this
ratio. |

| Stamp
Ads |
"Stamp Ads" are small ads
that usually stack somewhere either on the left or right
of the web page. Their vertical placement is not guaranteed
and you must expect that the viewer will have to scroll
down the page for them to come into view.
Stamp Ads can be either static or animated.
Standard size is 150x250 pixels, but smaller is highly
acceptable. Stamp Ad insertions should always cost less
than Banner or Skyscraper ads as their performance is
less predictable.
Click to view ratios can be dramatically
increased through targeting the web pages on which the
ad is displayed. They become most effective when the
ad relates directly to the content of the page.

| Skyscraper
Ads |
"Skyscraper Ads" are a new
and growing format for graphic advertising in the Internet.
They have very high visual impact because of their size
and location and are seen immediately when the web page
is loaded and can be either static or animated.
They are always located "above
the fold" and virtually always along the right
hand side of the web page design. Because of their placement
they are always seen on every web page they are displayed
on. Skyscraper Ads have a static size requirement of
120x600 pixels.
Statistics for general placement of
Skyscraper Ads range in the 10 clicks per 100 views,
but are highly unpredictable unless carefully designed.
Careful targeting can effectively raise this ratio substantially.

The Hudson Valley Ad Server will allow you
to place and control your graphic ads by:
- Establishing an ad campaign by defining
the ad and limiting it by number of views per month and
or number of clicks per month and/or start and end dates
for display.
- Allows you to select from the list of
currently active web sites accessing the HV Ad Server to
allow your ad to be seen on.
- Categorize your insertion by subject
and geography that is appropriate for the ad.
- Determine either a flat rate or interactive
rate for the campaign.
- Via the HV Ad Server Interface
you can see the number of displays and clicks on each ad
and each web site making use of the HV Ad Server. The numbers
are dynamic and continually being updated as your ad(s)
are served up.
