Jan 24th, 2015 | By | Category: Police Briefs

Deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office report the arrest of Philip W. Coumbes, Jr., 33 years old, of Cooper Street in the Town of Marbletown.
Coumbes was charged with the felonies of criminal contempt in the first degree and aggravated family offense, along with the misdemeanors of assault in the third degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree.

On January 23, 2015, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Deputies responded to a 911 poll regarding a domestic dispute in the Town of Marbletown. Investigation revealed that Coumbes had struck the victim in the head causing injuries during the dispute. Further investigation revealed that when the victim attempted to call 911 for assistance, Coumbes took the phone away from the victim and intentionally broke it. Both actions directly violated a current no harass order of protection against Coumbes.

Coumbes was arrested, then arraigned in the Town of Marbletown Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $50,000.00 cash bail or $100,000.00 secured bond. Coumbes is set to reappear in the Town of Marbletown Court at a later date.
