This year’s decisions were difficult in that there were a number of worthy requests, and the amount of funding available was limited. 25 applications were received – 10 of which were from first time applicants – requesting a total sum of more than $149,000. Eleven organizations received awards for a total of $41,400 ranging from $2,000 – $7,225. A broad array of projects were funded including new artistic initiatives, expanded programming, and capacity building activities, all of which will continue the strong cultural legacy of Ulster County. An independent review panel evaluated all applications and made recommendations which were considered and approved by a special committee comprised of members of the Dutchess County Arts Council’s Allocations Committee with additional Ulster County representation. All allocations were then approved by the full Board of the Dutchess County Arts Council.
