Two Arrested in Monticello On Drug Charges Following Vehicle StopJul 13th, 2013 | By HV Insider | Category: Police Briefs
Monticello Police arrested Stacey Cruz,25 and Jamil Fasenntao,27 both of Monticello on Saturday July 13, 2013.
At 12:25 PM Saturday Monticello officers stopped Cruz on Washington Street in the Village of Monticello while she was operating a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. Officers stopped Cruz because they had prior knowledge that she had a suspended driver license with 5 active suspensions. Cruz was then arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 2nd degree. When officers interviewed her passenger Jamil Fasenntao he was observed tossing a bag into the grass next to the vehicle. The bag contained three decks of heroin.
Upon further investigation at the Monticello police station officers found that Cruz was in possession of 23 decks of heroin, which she had hidden in her shoes.
Cruz was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 5th degree and misdemeanors for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 2nd degree.
Fasenntao was charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree.
Cruz and Fasenntao were both arraigned before acting village of Monticello justice Martin Miller.
Cruz was remanded to the Sullivan county jail without bail.
Fasenntao was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $1500.00 pending further court action.
