I-84 westbound was blocked near Port Jervis and the Pennsylvania border as emergency crews worked to free the victims of a fatal accident late Tuesday afternoon.
One man was killed and two others injured when the SUV they were in ran off the highway, flipping over as it reached the bottom of an embankment. The victim was identified as 43 year-old Gregory Thomas. He was believed the to be the front seat passenger. The driver, 42 year-old Purcela Faulker and 43 year-old Angela Pittman, 43, who was a back seat passenger, were flown by helicpoter for medical treatment.
All three were from Arkansas and had just delivered buses to Connecticut and were headed back home at the time of the accident.
State police worked to reconstruct the scene and believe the SUV lost control and veered off the road after passing a tractor trailer causing the driver to overcorrect, sending it down the embankment where it flipped and came to rest on its roof.
