Tri-County JC Penney Stores Raise Funds For Big Brothers Big SistersOct 7th, 2013 | By HV Insider | Category: Featured Articles
JC Penney stores in Middletown, Kingston, Poughkeepsie, and across the country invited customers to support mentoring through Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations by “rounding up” their purchases to the nearest dollar, and donating the difference nationwide. JC Penny’s Cares selects a different charity each month. The local result gathered $1,500 from caring community members to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County.
“We are incredibly excited to support an organization that makes such a profound impact on the lives of children educationally, socially and emotionally,” said Miki Woodard, JCP Cares president and vice president of philanthropy for JC Penney.
“A few pennies may not seem like much,” said Nancy Kosloski, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters, “but when they add up, what a difference they can make for our programs. The customers’ generosity in rounding up their purchase allows us to keep the process of enrolling, training and matching mentors one-to-one to assure the caring friendship, guidance, and new opportunities an adult mentor can bring into a child’s life. We are very grateful for this national partnership support.”
