Transportation Council to Approve Funds For Dutchess County Communities

The Poughkeepsie-Dutchess County Transportation Council (PDCTC) has announced that the Transportation Council will meet on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at the Locust Grove Estate (Reese Gallery Room), 2683 South Road (Route 9), Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

The Council is expected to approve new bylaws that update voting membership based on data from the 2010 Census, clarify the roles and responsibilities of committees and subcommittees, and revise guidelines for changing new and existing transportation projects. In addition to the new Bylaws, the Transportation Council is also expected to approve over $3 million in federal funding for four new
pedestrian projects:

1) City of Beacon Main Street Accessibility Improvements ($958,064),
2) Town of Hyde Park Route 9 Redesign ($676,000)
3) Town of Red Hook Route 9 Sidewalks ($733,824)
4) Wappingers Falls Village Center Pedestrian Safety Project ($699,400)

The Council held a 45-day public comment period for the Draft Bylaws from October 24-December 8, 2014, and a 15-day public
comment period for the new projects from November 26-December 10, 2014.

The Transportation Council meeting is open to the public and the media is encouraged to attend.
