A Town of Newburgh woman has been arrested in connection with a Sunday morning stabbing.
Town of Newburgh Police received a 911 call at 8:43AM for a reported stabbing at the Orange Lake Motel on Rt. 52. Responding officers found 31 year old Dayyon Lee, of Middletown, sitting in a pool of blood in the doorway of Room #11. Lee had a severe stab wound to the back. He was treated at the scene by EMT’s and then flown by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center. He was in serious condition.
Autumn Moore, age 21, a friend of the victim and the occupant of Room #11, was located with blood on her clothing in a nearby motel room. Moore was interviewed and subsequently arrested. Moore and the victim have been involved in a relationship for some time.
Moore has been charged with Assault 1st Degree, a class B Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th. She is being held in the Town of Newburgh lock-up and will be arraigned in Town Court later this afternoon.
A motive for the stabbing is not known at this time. An investigation by detectives and an Asst. District Attorney is continuing at this hour. Additional charges could be lodged at a later time.
