Town of Newburgh Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of Drugs and Cash

A Poughkeepsie man was arrested on drug charges following a Saturday evening traffic stop.

At about 6:00PM Saturday, Officer Michael Sisia stopped a vehicle on North Plank Road after the driver failed to yield right of way to another vehicle. The driver, Shayne Griffin, 38, of  Poughkeepsie, was arrested for driving with several suspensions on his license. Officers seized numerous glassine envelopes of heroin packaged in a manner indicative of  possible narcotics sales activity. Over $2,100 cash and four cells phones were also seized.

Griffin, who was recently released from federal prison after serving time on gun charges, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and traffic-related charges offenses.  He was arraigned and released on $2,500 bail.
