Town of Newburgh Mill Street Overpass to Open August 31Jul 13th, 2012 | By HV Insider | Category: General Interest
Persons who reside in, or travel through, the northwestern part of the Town of Newburgh should be made aware that Mill Street will be closed to through traffic until August 31.
I have been informed by the New York Thruway Authority that the road will be closed because of needed repairs on the bridge which carries the Thruway over Mill Street. There is now adequate signage in place which detours traffic onto Mountain View Avenue, Route 300, and Quaker Street.
Kept open for traffic also is Old Mill Road, from just east of the overpass into the Town of Plattekill.
While these detours will be an inconvenience for a little over two months, the knowledge that the bridge will be perfectly safe for motorists travelling both over it and under it is certainly reassuring and well worth the temporary nuisance.
