A Poughkeepsie man died early Saturday morning from a gunshot wound he suffered to his chest and a 20 year old Newburgh man has been charged with his murder.
Police received a call of shots fired along the 400 block of Main Street, in the City of Poughkeepsie at about 3:25 AM Saturday morning. When police arrived on the scene, three people had been wounded and a vehicle was speeding away from the location.
The shooting occurred outside the El Molino Restaurant at 452 Main Street, City of Poughkeepsie Detectives say it followed an altercation that took place earlier in the evening inside the restaurant.
44 year old Inis Amigon was taken to St. Francis hospital where he later died from his wounds.
Police were able to stop the fleeing vehicle. Inside were five individuals; three men and two women. Police arrested all three male passengers. 20 year old Armando Martinez of Newburgh, was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies. 22 year old Aladdin Sanchez of Newburgh, was charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon and a third suspect, 20 year old Jonathan Ramirez was charged with misdemeanor weapon possession. Both female occupants were released.
Two other Poughkeepsie residents were also shot during the incident. A 24 year old female was shot in the right knee and a 29 year old male was shot in the right calf. Both victims were admitted to St. Francis Hospital and listed in serious condition but the injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
The investigation is ongoing. City of Poughkeepsie Police ask anyone who may have information about the incident or who may have witnessed the shooting to call 845-451-7577.
