The investigation revealed that a 2007 Nissan being operated by a Nicole Naishtut left the roadway and proceeded down the grassy embankment adjacent to the shoulder of the road and struck Andy Ananthakrishnan, 73, a pedestrian, who had parked his vehicle off the shoulder of the road and was standing in the grassy area away from his vehicle.

Naishtut was not injured, but Mr. Ananthakrishnan was killed as a result of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Putnam County Coroner William Stahl who had responded.

An autopsy is scheduled and the accident is still under investigation at this time.
