The pair was also charged with misdemeanors of unlawful imprisonment and conspiracy.

Originally thought to be persons of interest in the investigation, they were both arrested Monday in the area of Schwenk Drive and Washington Avenue after they received payment in connection with the extortion.

Detectives then executed a search warrant of their apartment and collected several items of evidence.

Both are being held in the Kingston Police Department pending arraignment in City Court.
