Teens United to Rebuild Newburgh (T.U.R.N.) will showcase the best of Newburgh’s youth with an “Anti-Bullying Talent Show” on Friday, April 27 at 7 p.m. at Newburgh Free Academy, 201 Fullerton Avenue.
All are welcome to attend. The event, part of a three-part series focused on bullying prevention, is co-sponsored by the City of Newburgh 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Newburgh’s Reconnected Families, and Perfect Touch Entertainment.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $3 for students; $5 for adults.
The Anti-Bullying series also includes a Reconnecting Families Summit, held on March 31, and a Rally scheduled for June 2.
According to Kanisha Henderson of Perfect Touch Entertainment, “The mission of the Talent Show isn’t just to showcase a love of the performing arts; it is to raise awareness of a serious epidemic of bullying.”
Youth Bureau Director Joy Pittman added, “Bullying is a serious attack on the self-esteem of young people, and can lead to serious and sometimes fatal results. We want to get the word out on the importance of preventing bullying, and the best way to do that is to have our youth relay that message to their peers.”
