The New York State Police in Wurtsboro announce the arrest of Frederick C. Rappina, age 62, of Wurtsboro, NY for the felony charges of Reckless Endangerment 1st and Assault in the 2nd degree.
This arrest came as the result of a 911 call reporting a pedestrian being struck by a SUV that left the scene. Investigation revealed that Rappina was the operator of the vehicle in question and after striking the pedestrian, with whom he is familiar, it is alleged that he exited the vehicle and physically assaulted the 41 year old male victim. The victim was transported to ORMC in Middletown for treatment.
Rappina was arrested and charged with the above crimes at State Police Wurtsboro. He was arraigned by Town of Mamakating Town Justice Joel Welsh and committed to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or bond, to reappear on a later date.
