State Police In Wappinger Invesigate Armed Home Invasion
Jan 16th, 2012 | By HV Insider | Category: Featured ArticlesOn January 15, 2012, New York State Troopers responded to a report of a home invasion burglary-in-progress at 2 Regency Drive in the Town of Wappinger.
Preliminary investigation reveals that two men unlawfully entered the residence at approximately 2:20AM. One of the suspects, armed with a loaded handgun, was confronted by a 34-year old male resident who was alerted by his barking dog. During a struggle between the resident and the suspect, the resident was struck in the head several times by the suspect’s handgun with at least one round discharging from the firearm, but not striking the victim. The suspects subsequently fled from the residence on foot in an unknown direction. The victim sustained a head laceration and was treated by responding EMS.
One suspect was described as a male Hispanic or light-skinned black male in his mid 30s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 150 pounds. The other suspect was described as a black male, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and 240 pounds, armed with a handgun.
Investigation into this incident is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at the Wappinger State Police barracks at (845)298-0398. All calls will remain confidential.
The State Police were assisted in the investigation by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, the East Fishkill Police Department, and the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office.
