Saugerties Man Arrested on 10 Counts of Larceny for Stealing GasAug 6th, 2011 | By HV Insider | Category: Police Briefs
Deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office report the arrest of William S. Mahon, age 44, of Blue Mountain Road, Town of Saugerties on 10 counts of petit larceny.
On August 1, 2011 at 8:34 A.M. Deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Stewart’s Shop at 165 Main St. in the Village of Saugerties for a report of a subject who pumped $26.00 worth of gasoline and left without paying.
Upon interviewing the store manager it was learned the same suspect individual with the same vehicle has stolen gasoline on several other occasions in the past several weeks at the Stewart’s Shops on Main St. and Route 212 in the Village and Town of Saugerties. During one of these larcenies, a store employee was able to obtain the license plate number on the vehicle. Using the plate information, deputies were able to locate Mr. Mahon and interview him.
During the course of the interview Mr. Mahon made admissions to committing the larcenies which totaled in the amount of $286.94.
Mr. Mahon was taken into custody without incident and transported to Ulster County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters where he was processed and released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Saugerties Court on August 8, 11 at 6:00pm.
