Rescheduled Women’s Summit to Be Held March 15 in NewburghMar 14th, 2013 | By HV Insider | Category: Community Calendar
The 1st Annual Women’s Summit, organized and sponsored by the Women’s Leadership Fund, has been rescheduled. It was cancelled last week because of the snowstorm.
Highlighting the summit will be the screening of the award-winning documentary “Crime After Crime.” The film tells the story of the battle to free Debbie Peagler, an incarcerated survivor of brutal domestic violence who after spending two decades in prison drew global attention to the troubled intersection of domestic violence and criminal justice.
The film showing will be followed by two panels of experts from Orange and Dutchess Counties discussing the barriers to economic stability women face and local programs working to overcome these barriers.
Tickets are still available at $25 and reservations can be made online at www.uwdor.org/events. Seating is limited.
8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Friday, March 15 (rescheduled from March 8)
Safe Harbors, 106 Broadway, Newburgh
The region’s Women’s Leadership Fund is an initiative of United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region. Formed in 2007, it is part of a network of Women’s Leadership
