Rep Chris Gibson to Speak at Ulster Chamber Breakfast December 16

Dec 5th, 2013 | By | Category: Business News

U.S. Rep. Chris Gibson, R-Kinderhook, will be the guest speaker at the Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting on Monday, Dec. 16. The breakfast is scheduled for 7:30-9:00 a.m. at the Garden Plaza Hotel (formerly the Kingston Holiday Inn) in Kingston. St. Joseph’s School Choir will be performing songs of the season at the breakfast before Gibson speaks about his efforts in Washington, D.C.

“I look forward to returning to the Ulster Chamber and having the opportunity to talk about the work we’re doing to support Ulster County,” Gibson said. “With tourism and agriculture as significant drivers of our economy, I will update my work on the Farm Bill, which not only supports our family farms and farmers’ markets, but encourages conservation so we preserve our beautiful landscape for future generations.”

“We’re also continuing to work on policies that help our small businesses—supporting affordable healthcare and lower energy costs, investments in infrastructure and broadband, tax policies that help small businesses and hardworking families, and regulations that make sense and don’t needlessly hinder growth,” Gibson said.

“I appreciate the number of Ulster County businesses that have invited me to meet their employees, tour their facilities, and share what they need to continue to grow, and look forward to more of these events in 2014.”

Gibson is a native of Kinderhook in Columbia County. Prior to first being elected to Congress in 2010, Gibson served 24 years in the U.S. Army and rose to the rank of colonel. He was deployed seven times, including four combat tours in Iraq and separate deployments in Kosovo, Haiti and a counter-drug operation in the southwestern United States. Gibson was awarded the Purple Heart, four Bronze Stars and many other medals during his tenure.

Gibson and his wife, Mary Jo, a licensed clinical social worker, still live in Kinderhook with their three children.

The sponsor of the breakfast is the Sound of LIFE Radio Network.
