Realtor Political Action Committee Gala a SuccessJun 14th, 2013 | By HV Insider | Category: General Interest
The Dutchess County Association of Realtors (DCAR) and the Women’s Council of Realtors Dutchess Chapter (WCR) hosted their second annual Realtor Political Action Committee (RPAC) Gala on June 6, 2013 at the Villa Borghese in Wappingers Falls. The event was a Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre fund raiser for RPAC. It was attended by over 100 Realtors and affiliates, organized by the RPAC Committee chaired by Donald M. Maher. The keynote speaker was Mike Kelly, Director of Government Affairs of the New York State Association of Realtors.
RPAC promotes priorities such as affordable housing opportunities and protecting consumers in the real estate transaction through the National Association of Realtors on a federal level, the New York State Association of Realtors in Albany and locally through the Dutchess County Association of Realtors. Thomas Jefferson’s said, “The true foundation of republican government is the equal right of every citizen in his person and property and in their management.”
Some of the front burner issues are the opposition of any federal legislation to eliminate the mortgage interest deduction; a New York State issue is the removal of the property and school tax deduction, and locally, Dutchess County’s plans to increase the mortgage recording fee.
The event was sponsored by the Dutchess County Association of Realtors, Mid‐Hudson Multiple Listing Service, Women’s Council of Realtors, Michael P. Farley, Attorney at Law, Robin Home Inspection and Viridian.
