Project HOPE 2014 Celebrating 5 years in Mid Hudson Valley

Nov 3rd, 2014 | By | Category: In Your Town

Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 3pm – 8pm, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Iota Alpha Omega Chapter, in conjunction with the National Honor Society at Beacon High School, will participate in Project H.O.P.E. (Help Other People Excel) ~ Operation H.E.A.R.T. (Helping to Empower Area Residents Together), in its 5th year. On this day, numerous volunteers will gather at the Q.W.L. Building, near Downstate Correctional Facility on Red School House Road, to assist with sorting, packing and distributing the collected food to local food pantries.
Project H.O.P.E. is a day in which we give H.O.P.E. to the communities we serve. Through Project H.O.P.E., we will Help Other People Excel by replenishing thirteen (13) area food banks/pantries with approximately 800 non-perishable food and personal hygiene items each. We are proud to announce that Dutchess Outreach, Incorporated (Poughkeepsie), Dutchess County Community Action Partnership Center (Beacon and Poughkeepsie locations),House of Refuge International Ministries (Newburgh),Solid Rock Church of God (New Windsor),Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church (Beacon), Full Gospel Center (LaGrangeville, Trinity United Methodist Church (LaGrangeville), St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church (Beacon), St. George’s Episcopal Church (Newburgh), St. Paul’s United Methodist Church (Middletown), Beulah Baptist Church (Poughkeepsie), Beacon Lions Club (Wappingers Falls) will be the recipients of the proceeds of Project H.O.P.E (Help Other People Excel) – Operation H.E.A.R.T. (Helping to Empower Area Residents Together).
We realize that the weeks before Thanksgiving are crucial weeks as many food banks/pantries are overwhelmed with providing food for individuals, children and families in need while keeping their shelves stocked. We look forward to serving the needs of our community on our day of H.O.P.E. when we will Help to Empower Area Residents Together.
