Port Jervis Summer Street Fair July 20Jul 2nd, 2013 | By HVI Editor | Category: Entertainment
The Tri-State Chamber is proud to present “Summer Street Fair Featuring 15th Annual Arts Walk” on Saturday, July 20, 2013 with a rain date of Sunday, July 21, 2013 on historic Front Street in Port Jervis, NY, from 11:00am through 5:00pm. The Tri-State Chamber works all year to present this wonderful annual celebration of the arts, our communities, and our businesses to downtown Port Jervis. A time for everyone to come out and buy unique artwork and crafts from local area artists, Arts Walk has been the destination event of the summer, and this year we have invited local area business to participate as well. Arts Walk was started some 15 years ago with the concept that art and business make great partners.
The event begins at 11:00am with artists and businesses displaying and selling their products and services. On tap, we have live music and dance programming during the day as well as strolling entertainers like our favorite clown and stilt walker. We are thrilled that Harold Butler’s “CruzinPort” is participating this year with unique antique automobiles, and event Co-Chair, John Donahue is bringing his friends with Formula racecars for a rare and up close encounter with speed! Just remember, look, but don’t touch.
For the kids, there will be a “bouncy house”, face painting, cotton candy, ice cream, popcorn and all the fun you want for your family on a relaxing summer day. The Humane Society of Port Jervis & Deerpark will have our doggie & kitty friends that are looking for the perfect home and will be up for adoption. At 5:00pm everyone packs up and takes a dinner break, sampling food and drink from our restaurants, continuing to browse through our great antique shops, art galleries, and gift shops…but, don’t go far, because we have a special treat in store for the entire family.
“Spider-Man” will be on Front Street at dark, about 9:15pm. He will appear on a 42 foot wide inflatable screen with sound that will blow you away…befitting any superhero! This special free movie event is made possible through the generosity of our member, Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. “We were so impressed with the excitement generated from last year’s movie at Arts Walk, that we just had to find a way to make this happen for everyone to enjoy,” comments Mary Decker from Bon Secours. “It’s all about families, it’s all about community and it’s all about relaxing and sharing time with our neighbors.” Chamber Director Nelson Page said, “As last year, we are proud to showcase this film with wide screen, stereophonic sound which will make this a first class presentation not to be missed.” If you want to stroll down to Front Street to get a good seat for the movie, come early, and grab some snacks from the concession stand being offered by the Matamoras Recreation Department.
