ORANGE COUNTY INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AGENCY GRANTS PORT JERVIS $55,000 FOR WHITE WATER PARK
On Wednesday, July 18, 2012, Mayor Potter and Community Development Director Kathleen Hendrickson attended the Orange County Industrial Development Agency meeting at which the board members granted the City of Port Jervis $55,000 for the surveying and permitting of a White Water Park on the Delaware River.
This money will be used by the City in partnership with Recreation Engineering and Planning (REP) based out of Boulder, Colorado to carry out the permitting and surveying process completely. The REP engineer that is in charge of this project is Mr. Shane Sigle.
The Orange County Planning Department conducted an economic feasibility study in which the prediction of economic impact that the White Water Park would have on Port Jervis, Orange County, and surrounding areas would be at a minimum of 10.9 million dollars to a maximum of 33.6 million dollars per year.
“I thank the Orange County Industrial Development Agency for their support on this project,” Mayor Potter said. “I am happy to see it moving forward and excited for the potential benefits it will bring the City of Port Jervis.”
