Pedestrian Struck by a Car in Esopus While Walking Dog

Deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office report a Car / Pedestrian accident that occurred on Route 213 in the Town of Esopus.

On December 26, 2014 at 9:19 am the Ulster County 911 Center reported a Car / Pedestrian accident on State Route 213 near VanWagnen Lane in St. Remy, Town of Esopus.

An investigation revealed that Perry Zoda, 27 years old of Port Ewen NY was was traveling south on State Route 213 and struck a pedestrian with the right side of his car.  The pedestrian was knocked to the ground and down an embankment.

Michelle Sleight 48 years old of Ulster Park was walking her dog on the right shoulder of State Route 213 with her back to oncoming traffic when she was struck.

Ms. Sleight was transported by Esopus Ambulance to the Mid Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie with injuries to her left elbow, back, leg and face.

An Investigation is continuing by members of the Sheriff’s Office.
