ORMC Offers Free Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Support Group

Orange Regional Medical Center Offers Free Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Support Group

Orange Regional Medical Center’s Spagnoli Family Cancer Center, in affiliation with Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer, Inc. (SPOHNC), is now offering a free support group for people diagnosed with oral, head and neck cancer. The group meets the second Tuesday of each month from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Orange Regional Medical Center Community Health Education Center located at 110 Crystal Run Road in Middletown.

Participants of the support group will receive encouragement; mechanisms to improve coping skills; opportunities to speak openly and honestly about the disease and its effects; a better understanding of what to expect throughout their journey; educational information and resources. The setting will provide a confidential forum for patients to share experiences, concerns and fears.  Patients, friends and family members are welcome.

The support group will be facilitated by Jayne O’Malley, RN, OCN, a certified Oncology Nurse with over 15 years of experience.  Ms. O’Malley is also an Oncology Patient Navigator for Orange Regional’s Head & Neck Cancer Services, providing guidance and support for patients from diagnosis to treatment for oral, head, neck or lung cancer.  Also facilitating will be Jeannette Carbone-Marsh, LPN, and Mauri Waldman, LCSWR, BCD, CASAC.  Both have extensive experience in psychosocial support services.
