Stylianos A. Tsangarakis, of Newburgh, a longtime area resident, entered into rest on Friday, December 28, 2012. He was 100 years old.
Son of the late Kalomoira (Moshou) and Antonios Tsangarakis, he was born January 17, 1912 in Pireas, Greece. He married Maria Louizou Tsangarakis in 1965. Maria survives at home.
Stylianos was the Owner of Newburgh Lunch in Newburgh from 1969 – 1995, and was formerly an employee of Texas Weiners on Broadway in Newburgh from 1953 – 1969.
Dad will lovingly be remembered for his never-ending smile, his love for walking, and for never giving up. He was a remarkable man and a loving husband, father and grandfather, who loved to tease his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed but his spirit and perseverance will be forever cherished and will live on through his family.
Survivors include his loving wife, Maria, at home; his son, Tony Tsangarakis; daughter-in-law, Anna (Vlitas) Tsangarakis; and grandchildren: Maria, Nicole and Alexandra.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, December 30 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, with a Trisagion Service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 31 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Newburgh, with burial following in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.
