Girl Scouts, YWCA Announce Special Guestfor Tribute to Women 20th Anniversary Dinner Celebration
Retired Brigadier General, First Female General Officer of US Army to Speak
Ginny Rizzo, Chairperson of the 2012 Orange County Tribute to Women of Achievement event committee, is proud to announce that Retired Brigadier General Rebecca Halstead will be the keynote speaker for the 2012 Tribute to Women annual awards dinner on Wednesday, May 9, 2012.
General Halstead is a 1981 graduate of the United States Military Academy and achieved an historic milestone as the first female graduate of West Point to be promoted to General Officer. She was the senior Commanding General for logistics in Iraq, and was the first female in U.S. history to command in combat at the strategic level. In this capacity she was responsible for leading more than 200 multi‐disciplined units (20,000 military and 5,000 civilians) located across 55 different bases, providing supply, maintenance, transportation, and distribution support to more than 250,000 personnel serving in Iraq. The 20th Anniversary Tribute to Orange County Women of Achievement dinner will be held Wednesday, May 9 at 5:30 p.m. at Anthony’s Pier 9 in New Windsor. Tickets are $75 and available by contacting YWCA Orange County at 845.561.8050, ext. 14.

More than 200 women from throughout Orange County have been recognized since the award’s inception in 1992. A 20 year collaboration between the Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts this year, and YWCA Orange County, now in its 150th year, the Tribute to Orange County Women of Achievement award recognizes women who exemplify the ideals of these two organizations.
The Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson and YWCA have been joining forces for 20 years to honor Orange County women who serve as role models and make a difference in our community through their professional, personal, or school-based activities. The 2012 honorees will be recognized at the Annual Tribute to Women of Achievement Dinner to be held Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Anthony’s Pier 9.
