A Village of Florida man was sentenced to the maximum of 25 years to life for the murder of his ex girlfriend’s new boyfriend; 21 year old Randy Kizer of Port Jervis.
28 year old Todd Sinclair received the sentence Wednesday, January 30, in Orange County Court in front of a courthouse filled with the slain man’s family. Sinclair was convicted in May on second-degree murder, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment charges for the February 2011 killing.
Sinclair told the judge he was deeply in love with Brianna Hannigan and the crime was committed during the heat of passion and not intentional. Kizer died inside his car, with Hannigan in the passenger seat, on February 2 after Sinclair followed him until he forced Kizer to stop and confronted him, shooting him several times.
Sinclair, fled the scene and was arrested several hours later in Monroe.
In addition to the prison sentence, Sinclair must make restitution to the family for funeral expenses and pay into the state crime victim’s fund.
