Old Navy Holds Successful Clothing Drive for Big Brother Big Sisters

Jul 16th, 2013 | By | Category: Community Happenings

Old Navy at 128 Bailey Farm Road in Monroe hosted a very successful week-long clothing drive to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County.  They collected 64 bags of clothes, totaling over 2,500 pieces of clothing. The proceeds from the donations go directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters who provides at-risk kids in the community with one-to-one mentors to help change their lives for the better, forever. In addition, the clothing drive helps keep thousands of pounds of clothing out of local landfills and now instead are being recycled.

“Our customers were very excited and grateful to see an event like this being run in our store. They saw that we had such a passion for our community. Our associates loved this event, especially since they could clean out all their closets. We had so many great donations from our associates and customers,” explains Daniel LaSeige, Manager of Operations at the Old Navy Store in Monroe.  Customers and Employees were encouraged to participate by being offered a discount on the day they brought in the clothing.

The plan is that the highly successful clothing drive becomes an event done a few times a year at Monroe’s Old Navy.  “We hope to do another one of these very soon, and love that we had such a great partnership and connection with Big Brothers Big Sister. We at Monroe Old Navy strive to help our community in any way possible and this event was just one of the great events we have done,” says LaSeige.
