NFA Rowers Support Newburgh Jewish Community CenterJan 24th, 2013 | By HV Insider | Category: In Your Town
Coaches, parents, and rowers from the Newburgh Rowing Family, which includes the NFA Varsity Crew Team, the Newburgh Rowing Club, and the San Miguel Academy Crew Team, came together on Monday, January 21, to attend the Kids Bowling Party, at Pat Tarsio Lanes in Newburgh, NY. Newburgh Enlarged Central School District Board of Education President Dawn Fucheck joined the Crew Team, wearing her son Ryan Fucheck’s old varsity crew jacket. “What a great day,” said NFA Varsity Crew Team Mom Juliana LoBiondo, “the Newburgh JCC has brought so many members of the community together to have fun and support a great community center.”
The event was a great success, according to Newburgh Jewish Community Center Executive Director Debbie Lovitch Sanford. Said Executive Director Sanford, “the Newburgh JCC provides recreational, educational and cultural programs to the entire community. In fact, the Newburgh JCC does programs on all the days off from school for holidays, Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, Columbus Day and Veterans Day.”
“Of the many Newburgh JCC events in which I have participated in throughout the years, bowling has been the best one yet!” said Heidi Cowen, age 15, a sophomore at NFA High School and secretary for the NFA French Club. “It was a great way to spend my day off from school with friends.”
“We had a lot of kids here from the San Miguel Crew Team,” said Dajour (“Soup”) Fisher, an 8th grader at San Miguel Academy and a member of the San Miguel Crew Team. “We try to come to every fundraiser that we get asked to attend. This was a lot of fun. I love bowling and it’s fun seeing my friends and coaches.”
