A member of the Newburgh Latin Kings admitted his role in three murders on the eve of the start of his trial.
23 year old Jose ‘King Gordo’ Lagos, plead guilty on Tuesday to murder in connection with a drug crime and using,carrying and discharging a firearm in relation to a crime of violence.
The plea agreement included Lagos admitting to participating in the 2010 murders of Jerome ‘Rude Boy’ Scarlett and John ‘Tarzan’ Maldonado. He also admitted to being a part of the 2008 murder of 15 year old Jeffrey Zachary.
Lagos’ trial was set to begin today, Wednesday January 23, along with two more of the gang’s leaders;Wilson “King Gunz” Pagan and Christian “King Chi Chi” Sanchez, they are the last of thirty-five of the gang’s members indicted in Newburgh.
Lagos is scheduled to be sentenced May 17, 2013. The charges carry a minimum of 30 years and a maximum of two life sentences in federal prison in agreement with his plea deal.
