Mount Saint Mary College raises nearly $27,000 for Relay for LifeApr 12th, 2011 | By HV Insider | Category: Community Happenings
Surpassing their goal, Mount Saint Mary College students raised nearly $27,000 for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
Some 300 students, friends, cancer survivors and members of the Mount Saint Mary College community paced the track for 12 hours recently. Opening ceremonies included a Survivor Lap – featuring Mount nursing major Megan Morris of Lake Carmel, who briefly shared about her struggle with cancer — and the lighting of luminaries in remembrance of those lost to cancer.
More than 50 percent of the Mount’s 2,700 students volunteer through service clubs or in the field as a requirement of coursework. Donations are still being accepted online
