Monticello Police in conjunction with the Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Investigation Unit arrested John Venticinque ,63 of Monticello on Wednesday August 14, 2013.
Venticinque was charged with felonies for grand larceny in the 3rd degree, welfare fraud in the 3rd degree and offering a false instrument for filing in the 1st degree. He was also charged with unlawful possession of marihuana.
An investigation by the Sullivan County Welfare Fraud Investigation Unit showed that Venticinque did intentionally file false applications with the Sullivan county department of family services for public assistance and Medicaid benefits and did receive those benefits. The total amount in stolen benefits received by Venticinque was $37,308.00.
Venticinque was arraigned in the town of Liberty justice court and remanded to the Sullivan county jail on $15,000.00 bail pending further court action.
