Monticello police arrested Walder Marrero-Gonzalez, 20 of Monticello on Tuesday July 17, 2012. Gonzalez was charged with felonies for criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree, attempted assault in the 1st degree, criminal use of a firearm in the 2nd degree and reckless endangerment in the 1st degree.
Gonzalez was arrested following an investigation into a shots fired incident that occurred at 8:30 pm Monday at 31 summit Avenue. Gonzalez shot at persons in front of the residence. One of the fired rounds went through the front door of the residence and lodged in a wall. A male victim at the scene of the incident sustained a superficial wound and was treated by mobile medic ambulance.
Marrero-Gonzalez was arraigned before village of Monticello justice Josephine Finn and remanded to the Sullivan county jail on $25,000.00 bail pending further court action.
Sullivan county sheriff deputies and New York State Police assisted Monticello police at the scene of the incident Monday evening.
An active investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
