Michael Lang, the co-promoter of “Three days of peace and music” at Max Yasgur’s farm in the rural community of Bethel (Sullivan County) NY was present at the musem at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts on Thursday, August 16th.
The date was timely as it was exactly 43 years after the concert that attracted a half million attendees, mostly in the age bracket of 16 to 34 years young. Some of Rock and Roll’s most iconic musicians were on hand during the three day event which was marred by torrential downpours. Regardless the event shaped the lives of millions from that generation and Lang has authored books that recall the specifics of the Woodstock festival.
A smiling 67 year old Lang, who appears to be younger, was pleased to greet the crowd that came to see him and purchase autographed books.
Michael Lang was featured in many scenes of the 1970 Academy Award winning documentary film Woodstock : 3 Days of Peace & Music. Lang also produced Woodstock 94 with partners John Roberts, Joel Rosenman and co-producer John Scher, and Woodstock 99 With John Scher and Ossie Kilkenny.
Bethel Woods, a world class outdoor concert venue owned by former cable TV magnate Allan Gerry is just 90 minutes north of NYC and has a comprehensive museum featuring artifacts from 1969, a small theatre which shows a documentary of that period an other memorabilia from the 1960’s exclusive of the concert.
