Memorial Award to Honor Dutchess County Outstanding Medical Reserve Corps VolunteerJul 11th, 2012 | By HV Insider | Category: Community Happenings
Dutchess County Executive Marcus J. Molinaro will present the 2nd annual Colleen Marie Genadry Memorial Award tonight at 7:00pm at the Dutchess County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) membership meeting at the Emergency Response Center located at 392 Creek Road in Poughkeepsie.
This award is presented annually in honor of the service of Colleen Marie Genadry to an outstanding MRC volunteer who exemplifies Mrs. Genardy’s spirit and passion for volunteerism in the MRC. This year, the award will be presented posthumously to Robert J. Davis in recognition of his contributions to the MRC unit and his commitment to the service of others.
County Executive Molinaro said, “Community volunteers are the heart of Dutchess County, serving fellow residents in a wide variety of ways. MRC volunteers have been there to respond to the needs of county residents at critical times, all at little to no cost to taxpayers. Bob Davis embodied the volunteer spirit of the MRC and served our county well. We honor his service and his memory with this award presentation.”
Bob Davis dedicated his life to preparedness and response. Bob became a certified EMT in 1972 while attending SUNY Albany. He later went on to become a NYS EMT Instructor, CPR Chapter Faculty of the American Heart Association, and an Instructor Trainer for the American Red Cross. Bob shared his experience and knowledge on EMS subjects by lecturing at the local, regional, state, and national level. As the founder of EMS Associates in 1985, Bob provided supplies and equipment to Fire and EMS agencies across a multi state region. Later, Bob and his wife Tory also founded the Critical Response Network, a nonprofit corporation providing support and education to volunteer emergency services in New York and Western Connecticut.
Bob and his family were all dedicated MRC volunteers and aided Dutchess County residents by responding to the H1N1 Pandemic. Bob assisted at shelters, public events, and training exercises. Serving as a member of the MRC “Steering Committee,” Bob provided guidance and experience that strengthened the local MRC. Bob’s work with the MRC culminated in his appointment to the role of MRC Coordinator in January 2012, a role he undertook only a week before his death.
“We are grateful to the many dedicated volunteers of the Dutchess County Medical Reserve Corps who prepare for and respond to the needs of Dutchess County residents in times of significant events. Bob’s energy, spirit and commitment to his community and dedication to emergency services left a permanent imprint on the MRC and it is an honor to present the Colleen Marie Genadry award in his memory,” said Dutchess County Emergency Medical Services Coordinator Cathi Tegtmeier.
The award will be accepted by his wife, Tory Davis and son Justin, at Wednesday’s award ceremony. County Executive Molinaro will present the award.
