Martinez Sentenced to 25 years in Prison for Assaulting Infant Son

A 30 year old Leeds man was sentenced to the maximum of 25 years in New York State prison for assault on his 3-month old son.

Danny Martinez was sentenced in orange County Court Thursday after being convicted for first degree felony assault, reckless assault on a child and endangering the welfare of a child. He was sentenced to concurrent terms of 7 years on his conviction for Reckless Assault on a Child, and 1 year on his conviction for Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Martinez was arrested by Town of Newburgh police on August 28, 2011 for the assault that occurred the day prior in the home of the infant’s mother.

Martinez has been in Orange County Jail since his arrest.

A jury found that Martinez caused serious and permanent injury to 3 month old Dorian Martinez.

Senior Asst DA Michael Milza conducted the trial and asked Judge Robert Freehill to impose the maximum sentence allowed.
