Man Threatens Patrons With Gun Inside Town of Newburgh Bar

Town Police responded to a call of shots fired in a local bar early Sunday morning.

At about 3:00AM Sunday August 5, Town Police received a call of a man with a long gun firing shots inside McCarthy’s Pourhouse on Tighe Avenue off 17K.  Officers were told there were no shots actually fired but man with the gun had fled the area in a black SUV driven by a female.

Investigation at the scene determined that there was some type of altercation in the bar between two men and that one left, threatening to return with a gun. The man returned a short while later carrying a rifle or shotgun and began pointing the gun at numerous patrons in the bar. Patrons began running and many left the area. Witnesses say that when the suspect fled the bar and entered the black SUV.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described at a black or dark-Hispanic male, thin build, 20’s, wearing a white tank top. Anyone with information into this incident are asked to call Town of Newburgh Police 845.564.1100
