Local Area Scouts Set For Annual Haunted Harvest Festival

Oct 22nd, 2012 | By | Category: In Your Town

On October 27th, the Hudson Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America will once again be running its annual fall event – the Haunted Harvest Festival.  However, this year with a new twist.

For several years’ now, the Cub Scouts of the Hudson Valley have been treated with this fantastic day of haunted fun and activities.  The event, which has drawn as many as 900 scouts and parents annually, has been held at one or the other of the Council Campgrounds in Dutchess and Rockland County.  “Each year we would rotate the event from one campground location to the other, but this year we are running the event at both camps” says John Borchert, Council Cub Outdoor Activities Chair.

In a continuing effort to offer our program as close to the scout’s hometowns as possible, we decided to run the event at both locations.  We will run similar events simultaneously at both Camps, Camp Bullowa located at Franck Road in Stony Point, NY, and Camp Nooteeming at Scout Road in Salt Point, NY.

While this will take more volunteer staff to run the event, we expect attendance to increase this year to more than 1000 scouts and family members.  The day’s activities include shooting sports, a climbing wall, a haunted house, a haunted hayride, carnival games, a pumpkin patch, a campfire, s’mores making, and much, much more.
