Liberty Man Arrested For Assault With Baseball Bat

Liberty Man arrested for assault with baseball bat

On January 10th, 2018 the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested James Degraw, 45, of Liberty, after responding to a call for an assault. Liberty Police were called to an apartment building on Chestnut St. in the Village of Liberty at approximately 7:00 p.m. for a report of a man being assaulted with a baseball bat.

Upon arrival officers located a 32 year old man with injuries to his face.

The victim was transported to Catskill Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Degraw was located and arrested without incident. Recovered at the scene was an aluminum baseball bat used in the assault.

Degraw was charged with assault in the 2nd degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree, both felonies. Degraw was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court by the Honorable Judge Kirk Orseck and was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.  Degraw is due back in Town of Liberty Court on 1/17/18.
