On June 8th, 2012 at approximately 12:30 AM, Troopers and Investigators from the SP Livingston Barracks responded to a 9-1-1 call for an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Xtra Mart gas station located on State Route 9 in the Town of Kinderhook.

The overnight clerk reported that a masked subject entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded money.

In addition to the money, the subject stole a substantial amount of New York State Lottery scratch off tickets, cigarettes, and beer.

A subsequent investigation conducted by the New York State Police at Livingston, the New York State Police at SP Schodack – Troop G, and the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office led to the arrest of Couitt.

During the interview of Couitt, he admitted to committing a previous armed robbery at the Xtra Mart last month during which cash was forcibly stolen.

Couitt was arraigned on the two violent felonies in the Town of Kinderhook Court by Judge David Dellehunt, who remanded Couitt to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $500.00 cash bail to reappear on a later date.
