Investigation Leads to Marijuana and Cash in Ulster CountyFeb 4th, 2013 | By HV Insider | Category: Police Briefs
Members of the ULSTER REGIONAL GANG ENFORCEMENT NARCOTICS TEAM (URGENT) report the arrest of a Connecticut man subsequent to a marihuana investigation. Members of URGENT were conducting surveillance in regard to a marihuana trafficking case. The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Team stopped a vehicle involved in the investigation. The driver, Eric M. Sobaczewski, 39, of Glastonberry, CT, was taken into custody for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree. A search of the defendant and the vehicle revealed marihuana and $203,956.00 in cash.
Sobaczewski was arrested, transported to the Ulster County Law Enforcement Center and charged with: Unlawful Possession of Marihuana and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree.
The currency and the vehicle were seized pending forfeiture proceedings.
Sobaczewski was released on appearance tickets.
Further charges are possible and the investigation is ongoing.
