Orange County has romantic getaways for Valentine’s Day and beyond

Love is in the air and romantics will be head over heels with Orange County’s variety of full service hotels, charming B&Bs, and fascinating destinations. Special packages are available throughout the year, but the ones that Cupid has devised are particularly unique!

Treat your loved one to a romantic getaway with packages in February at The Historic Thayer Hotel at West Point.  Built in 1926, this landmark hotel located on the grounds of the United States Military Academy features Gothic architecture and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Many of its beautifully fitted guestrooms overlook the scenic Hudson River. MacArthur’s, the hotel restaurant, serves excellent cuisine in its stunning dining room. The Thayer is one of Orange County Tourism’s “Stay With Us” premier properties.  To place a reservation, call 845-446-4731, or visit www.thethayerhotel.com.

Arrow Park Lake and Lodge in Monroe is an enchantingly elegant 1900s-era mansion with breathtakingly beautiful views of Arrow Lake nestled among snow-covered evergreens.  This estate property offers a “Valentine’s Romance Getaway Package,” which promises to “warm the heart and kindle the soul.” A special lake view or forest view suite includes a bottle of wine, chocolates, and continental breakfast.  For more information, or to make a reservation, call 845-783-2044 or visit www.arrowparkny.com.

The Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast in Salisbury Mills calls itself the “Hudson Valley’s most romantic getaway.”  Built in 1802, this historic home features original wood-plank flooring, high ceilings and crown molding, a lovely wrap around porch, antiques, and original paintings. The innkeepers are offering dreamy Valentine’s weekend add-ons to create the perfect memory. Pick from flowers and chocolates along with an option for massages and dinner for two. For fees and reservations, call 845-496-2954, or visit www.caldwellhouse.com.

The Cromwell Manor Inn in Cornwall is an historic country estate on seven acres of woodlands and formal gardens. Decorated with period antiques and fine furnishings, the main house is an elegant 1820 mansion with a charming 1764 Colonial cottage nearby. The innkeepers have created special Valentine’s weekend add-ons. Upon arrival, guests will receive a special homemade heart-shaped fudge treat from neighboring Jones Farm. Innkeepers are also offering a 25 percent Sunday night discount if the Saturday stay is extended. To make a reservation, call 845-534-7136, or visit www.cromwellmanorinn.com.

And, reopening Valentine’s weekend is the Pine Bush House Bed and Breakfast in Pine Bush. For those seeking tranquility and emotional restoration, this charming Victorian home, built in 1904, is a favorite for honeymoons, anniversaries, and other special getaways. The innkeepers offer a warm welcome with their southern hospitality, and are equally delighted to be known for their “remarkable white glove service.” To make a reservation, call 845-744-3641 or visit www.pinebushhouse.com.

“In any season, show the object of your affection just how much he or she means to you by getting away to this amazing area,” said Susan Hawvermale, Orange County Tourism director.  “We guarantee you’ll be enamored with what we have to offer as much as you are totally smitten with the one you love.”

Any Orange County stay is filled with marvelous activities to complement the overnight stays at these welcoming properties. Experience downhill skiing in winter, Storm King Art Center from spring through fall, or sample the many locally created, award-winning wines along the Shawangunk Wine Trail. The U.S. Military Academy at West Point offers a superb day of history. There are also world-class shopping opportunities at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets and Sugar Loaf Craft Village. You’ll find a different experience every time you stay.
