A woman who was being served an arrest warrant escaped police and led them on a 15 minute car chase ending with her crashing her vehicle.
About Noon on Tuesday August 7 police went to a residence on Phillipsburg Road to serve 31 year old Nicolette Simons with a warrante for felony forgery issued by Town of Goshen Court. Town of Goshen police Sgt. Allen Faust said that Simons was in custody but somehow escaped and fled the scene in a 2010 Acura ZDX. In the process of fleeing, Simons drug a Goshen police officer, who suffered minor injuries, a short distance before he let go.
The chase lasted 15 minutes as Simons led police from Goshen to Wawayanda where she crashed after trying to pass a number of cars on Route 12. Her car flipped several times finally coming to rest in the oncmoing lane. She was taken to Orange Regional Medical Center to be treated for injuries sustained to her head and neck. Simons was later flown to Westchester Medical Center.
A loaded shotgun was found inside the vehicle that Simons was driving after the crash.
Simons now faces charges related to the attempted escape and resisting arrest as well as the original forgery charges.
