Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is proud to host three more events in the Event Gallery as part of the World Stage Series this fall – starting with a school-day concert. Kicking-off the fall series, the Brawner Brothers Band will perform on Friday, October 14th at 10:00 a.m. showcasing a musical style that blends the vibrant grooves of blues, R&B and jazz with music history.

This school-day concert is free and is open to all school groups, homeschool groups, and to the general public. The performance is targeted towards students grades 3-6. Curriculum connections: social studies, arts education, geography. Pre-registration is required for school groups. For special assistance in registering your school group, please contact Jodi Kane at or at 845.295.2521.

Bethel Woods is able to offer reduced-price bus transportation for field trips thanks to the generosity of Rolling V Bus Corporation. Sullivan County schools receive a flat rate of $125.00 per 44-passenger bus. Out-of-county schools may qualify for a reduced rate based on geographic location. More information is available for this opportunity by calling or emailing Jodi Kane.

Other World Stage Series performances include:

Minas: Brazilian Adventure on Sunday, October 23rd at 2:00 p.m., which is a celebration of Brazilian culture through music, participatory song, and samba percussion. Come early and make a carnival mask to wear during the concert. Art activities begin at 12:30 p.m.

Brother Joscephus & the Love Revival Revolution Orchestra on Sunday, November 13th at 2:00 p.m., which is a lively musical celebration combining New Orleans rhythms with soul, roots, rock and more. Come early and participate in a New Orleans-themed art activity.

Delaware Valley Opera present the children’s opera Hansel and Gretel on Saturday, December 10th at 2:00 p.m. This holiday classic is a perfect family event and will include audience participation and a Q&A. Come early and help decorate the set by creating cardboard gingerbread men for the witch’s house.

The World Stage Series provides cultural opportunities for school groups, youth groups, families and the public.

Profoundly influenced by legends of many genres, Kenny Brawner – the keyboard and vocalist for the Brawner Brother Band – has developed a distinctive, highly-original style. The New York Times described Kenny’s vibe as “rich, romantic, with bold striking figures and a strong stomping beat.” Kenny and his brother Everett, along with the rest of the band, have had the honor of performing live on stage with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater for the past three seasons. Ailey’s iconic Blues Suite – which premiered in their debut season – was soulfully “Brawnerized”!

Also insightful educators, the Brawners take great pride in working closely with school-age fans – and their range of repertoire and style effortlessly brings generations closer together – making the band a perfect choice for fun, memorable family programs.
