The New York State Police are currently investigating a fatal commercial vehicle accident that occurred on I-84 in the Town of Newburgh.
The Sate Police in Montgomery responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident by Exit 7 on I-84 in the Town of Newburgh.
Investigation revealed a double unit Fed-Ex tractor trailer, operated by Marion Williams, 50 of Leetonia, Oh, was traveling eastbound on I-84 when it crossed over the center median into oncoming traffic traveling in the westbound lane.
The tractor trailer struck a pickup truck, operated by James Mann, 55 of Newburgh, NY, that was traveling on I-84 westbound.
The pickup truck went down the north side embankment and came to rest. The tractor trailer came to rest across all lanes of traffic on I-84 westbound which caused the interstate to be closed for several hours.
Three accident victims were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh, NY where Mr. Mann latyer died from his injuries.
Investigation into the cause of the accident is currently on-going by the New York State Police BCI and the Collision Reconstruction Unit.
