Ellenville Man Charged With Heroin Sales

Members of the ULSTER REGIONAL GANG ENFORCEMENT NARCOTICS TEAM (U.R.G.E.N.T.) report the arrest of an Ellenville man subsequent to a heroin investigation.

Ellenville Police and URGENT received complaints in regard to heroin sales involving a male known as “Leo” in the Ellenville area. URGENT initiated an investigation and conducted an undercover buy operation. “Leo” was identified as Jorge H. Vega of Brodhead Street in Ellenville. URGENT subsequently obtained an arrest warrant for Vega from Village of Ellenville Justice Court. On Wednesday members of URGENT and Ellenville Police located Vega on Berme Road in the Town of Wawarsing. Vega was arrested, transported to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office Substation and charged with the following:

Jorge H. Vega, 44, of Ellenville
Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, a class B felony (heroin)
Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, a class B felony (intent to sell)
Unlawful Possession of Marihuana

Vega was arraigned in Village of Ellenville Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5000 cash bail and $10,000 property bond.

The following agencies have members assigned to URGENT: Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Town of Woodstock Police, Town of Lloyd Police, Town of Shandaken Police, Ulster County Probation, Town of Plattekill Police, Town of Marlborough Police, Town of New Paltz Police and United States Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
