Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson and YWCA Orange County are pleased to announce the names of the 2014 Tribute to Orange County Women of Achievement honorees. Now in its 22nd year, the Tribute awards honor women of Orange County who have made a difference to the community in their professional, personal, or school-based activities. The award is jointly hosted by the Girl Scouts and YWCA Orange County.
“As chairperson of the 2014 Tribute to Women event and a 2009 Tribute recipient myself, it was my honor and privilege to notify each of the honorees of their recognition and to congratulate them on their accomplishments,” said Tribute chairperson Kristin Jensen. “Thanks to the hard work of committee chair Ginny Rizzo and her selection committee volunteers, Tribute has an outstanding panel of honorees who exemplify the mission and ideals of the Girl Scouts and YWCA.”
The 2014 Orange County Women of Achievement are:
- Inaudy Esposito – Newburgh
- Barbara Martinez – Middletown
- Melissa McCoy – Cornwall
- Barbara “Charlie” Murphy – Highland Falls
- Helen Richards – Westtown
- Michelle Rider, Esq. – Newburgh
- Jean Sexton – Middletown
- Rebecca Doris – Woman of the Future – Washingtonville
“Each year the selection committee takes on the daunting task of reviewing and evaluating each of the nominations received from a field that grows annually,” said Ginny Rizzo, selection committee chairperson and 2010 Tribute honoree. “They have, however, proven themselves up to the challenge once again and selected a slate of honorees for 2014 that will no doubt be an inspiration to others and serve as role models to women of all ages,” continued Rizzo. “Congratulations to our new honorees.”
More than 220 women from throughout Orange County have been recognized since the award’s inception in 1992. This year’s Tribute honorees will be recognized at the 22nd
Annual Tribute to Women of Achievement of Orange County award dinner on Wednesday, May 14 at Palacio Conference and Catering Center on Route 17M in Goshen. The event is co-hosted each year by Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson and YWCA Orange County.
