Dutchess County LOOP Bus Extends Evening Service from Beacon to Poughkeepsie

The Dutchess County Division of Public Transit has announced it will be extending the time schedule on the LOOP’s bus Route B to allow for later evening service from Beacon to Poughkeepsie, Monday through Saturday starting this Thursday, June 20th.  This schedule adjustment will allow the Route B to run a similar evening schedule to Route A, which runs from Fishkill to Poughkeepsie.   It will also allow for Dutchess Stadium attendees to utilize public transit after baseball games.

Dutchess County Public Transit Administrator Cynthia Ruiz said, “Many of our users have asked for expanded service on Route B to enable them to get to Wappinger and Poughkeepsie later in the evening.  The expanded service will also enable Hudson Valley Renegade fans an opportunity to use public transit as an alternative to finding parking at the stadium as we will be providing service after baseball games for the first time.”

The new schedule will extend Route B by approximately forty five minutes.   The LOOP bus will depart from Dutchess Stadium at 10:00 p.m. or, if a game is being played that evening, the bus will depart fifteen minutes after the game and related activities have ended.  The bus will depart Dutchess Stadium no later than 10:45pm.    The bus will go to the Beacon Train Station and will then proceed north through the Town of Wappinger, Village of Wappingers Falls, and into the Town and City of Poughkeepsie.   The final stop will be at the Poughkeepsie Train Station.

Dutchess County Tourism Executive Director Mary Kay Vrba said, “A Hudson Valley Renegades game at Dutchess Stadium is a great night out with family and friends.    Having a connection to the Beacon Train Station after Renegades’ baseball games provides an opportunity to attract more people from around the Mid Hudson Region, particularly visitors from Westchester and Putnam counties.”

The LOOP bus fare is $1.75 one way.  Seniors, veterans, students and registered ADA passengers pay $.75 one way with ID.

The extended service will be a pilot program through the end of September 2013.   The new Route B extended service schedule can be found on the County’s website www.dutchessny.gov or by clicking here:  http://www.co.dutchess.ny.us/CountyGov/Departments/MassTransit/dutchessstadiumschedule.pdf
