It took a jury less than a day to return a guilty verdict in the trial of Justin Curran.
Curran was accused of stabbing his neighbor Laurie Ferguson to death inside her home at the Mobile Manor Trailer Park in Staatsburg and stealing her 2006 Saturn Ion.
During the more than two week trial prosecutors alleged Curran was distraught when his ex-girlfriend and mother of his four daughters, Tina Norman, took back the black Honda Accord she planned to loan him for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in 2012. Senior Assistant District Attorney Ed Whitesell painted a picture of a frustrated Curran going to Ferguson’s trailer to take her vehicle around 8:20 p.m. the night of her death.
Ferguson, 67, was found dead of multiple stab wounds inside her bedroom closet on Thanksgiving Day 2012.
Curran was found guilty of three counts of second-degree murder and one count each of first-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and first-degree robbery, all felonies.
